About The Peruvian Paso

The modern Peruvian Paso horse has been honed for over four hundred and fifty years of selective breeding. They are the descendants of horses brought over by the Spanish to conquer the South American continent. Among their stock were the Spanish Jennet, the Barb, and the Andalusian. This unique fusion gave birth to a horse of great endurance, smooth ride, and, an impeccable ground-covering stride. The Peruvian Paso horse was selectively bred to improve attributes that enabled hacendados (hacienda owners) to cover vast areas on horseback.

These sought out attributes are not man-made but genetically passed on to purebred foals. There are no artificial devises used in order to execute the natural four-beat lateral footfall. This marriage of smoothness and incomparable ground coverage provides the rider with a luxurious riding experience.
